  • CEP 841 -- Classroom and Behavior Management in the Inclusive Classroom -- Summer 2014

Course Instructor: T. Mariage, C. Chamberlain, and K. Constantine

This course helped me understand the essential role of leadership in the classroom and to understand the role of classroom management as one of prevention. This course focused on the importance of Positive Behavior interventions and how to develop my own habits of behavior for thinking about instructional practices that meet the needs of students.

2015

  • CEP 801A -- Collaboration and Consultation in Special Education -- Spring 2015

Course Instructor: E. Bouck

Throughout this course, I looked at the professional and ethical responsibilities as a special education teacher. I also looked at models and methods of collaboration with teachers, parents, and community agencies to foster learning for students with disabilities. Lastly, this course talked about advocacy for students with disabilities in school and community settings.

  • CEP 850 -- Technology and Literacy for Students with Mild Disabilities -- Summer 2015

Course Instructor: C. Okolo and K. Constantine

In this course, I examines ways in which technology can be used to support students’ literacy acquisition and to improve their performance and independence as they read and write. I focused on students with literacy difficulties and disabilities (such as learning disabilities), and examined technology applications that can be used in special and general education classroom. The focus was on students in K-12 education, with a primary emphasis on students with mild learning and behavior difficulties.

  • CEP 843 -- Autism Spectrum Disorders: Characteristics and Educational Implications -- Fall 2015

Course Instructor: S. Ferreri and T. Kaid

Autism is a fascinating disorder that affects each individual in a different way.  Diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) are on the rise and this class taught me some reasons why, as well as how to recognize ASD. 2016

  • CEP 842 -- Content-Area Instruction for Students with Mild Disabilities -- Spring 2016

Course Instructor: C. Okolo

This course had one main project; a professional development program. This was a great projecr because it helped me see differentiated instruction through different eyes. I got to look at adaptations and accommodations through the eyes of a resouce room instructor rather than a categorical classroom teacher.

  • ED 870 -- Capstone Seminar -- Summer 2016

Course Instructors: M. Koehler, S. Keenan, S. Greenhalgh, and B. Dillman

This is the final course in pursuing my degree. In this course, I created an online portfolio that showcased my work, learning, and progress in the MAED program. While creating the portfolio, I also learned how to create a website using Wix.
